Shooting Industry magazine publishes latest ATF industry data for 2018

July 7, 2020 (Hebron, Kentucky)–Shooting Industry magazine has released its comprehensive “U.S. Firearms Industry Today” feature that includes insights from the ATF’s 2018 Annual Firearms Manufacturing & Export report (AFMER)—the latest data available released in January 2020 to comply with the Trade Secrets Act.

Anderson Manufacturing—one of the nation’s largest and most trusted manufacturers of rifles, parts and accessories—is proud to announce that it has once again been ranked number one in the U.S. Miscellaneous Firearms Production category.

The top producer with 322,546 miscellaneous firearms in 2018, Anderson Manufacturing continued to out-produce all other U.S. firearms manufacturers within the category—including Palmetto State Armory, Aero Precision, Brownells Inc., Remington Arms Co., Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc., among others.

The company also topped the list in 2017, producing 211,382 miscellaneous firearms. The figures for U.S. production of miscellaneous firearms were new to the 2017 report—providing one more barometer of the overall health of the industry.

According to the ATF, examples of miscellaneous firearms include pistol grip firearms, starter guns and firearm frames and receivers.

  3. On the Range With the Optic-Ready Anderson AM15 Sniper Rifle

If the history of various companies that have been called “Colt” over the past century and a half is any kind of business barometer, receiving a U.S. Government military contract seems to be a terminal disease. Receiving and then losing a military contract, and the accompanying manufacturing buildup and decline, is a recipe for bankruptcy. The same fate befell Remington at the close of the Civil War.
