According to Stopveteransuicide.com, “By 2030, the total of veteran suicides will be 23x (times) higher than the number of post 9/11 combat deaths."
Anderson veterans came together on Saturday, June 18, 2022 to join the hike with Irreverent Warriors through Cincinnati, Ohio to raise awareness for veteran suicide. This veteran-only hike hosted 167 participants coming from locations across the United States, all with a common mission statement: “To bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide,” according to Irreverent Warriors.
This year marks the fifth annual Irreverent Warriors hike for Cincinnati and the theme for this year was ‘back to the 80’s’. The attire of the hike always includes silkies, which are shorts that were commonly used in the military for physical training.
